Grouping Paragraph B&C

Text B and text C both share the same technique, which is a multi-modal article. When muli-modal features within a text, it can be used to entice the audience and help them to create an image of what their food should look like, regarding the cookery instructions. By inserting a picture of the result in the background, this could help the audience as a template as to what their end result of food should look like. The same feature is within the Mr Men book, where they have created a comic image of the part of the secene. This could help the interaction of the children reading the book, and help them to interpret the meaning of this extract. Multi-modal is used to help to inform in this case, especially due to the context of both texts.

Self Improvement Task - Layout

While my lay out in some areas is quite strong, my paragraphs and the way I structure them are not as good as I would like. I will read through high graded work in order to use the techniques used by these students in my work to change my work to a higher standard.

How: Review PEE, clearer analysing.

Samsung F300 Advertisement

The advertisement for the Samsung music phone, entices the attention of their target audience. The target audience could be people who are interested in phones; especially media based phones, such as this new music phone. They have used synthetic personalisation through the use of ‘you’ which creates a relationship between the writer and the audience. This implies to the audience that the phone is made for them.

Me: To the top left draw a diamond (7)

Dwayne: Yeah

Me: About the space of your little finger (.) on the right edge of the diamond (.) stick your finger out and then draw a snowman with a small head (.) but its got to be joined

Dwayne: Small head

Me: Then a big body going down but don’t separate the head don’t put a line above the head if you get where I am coming from

Dwayne: Yeah

Me: Um below the diamond (.) probably a finger space below it do an equal sign (8) diagonal

The task was to describe shapes to another participant who didn’t know what they were. The use of language throughout the conversation was very descriptive, which helped to create an image of the shapes in order to draw them. Back channel agreement features when Dwayne says ‘yeah’ and ‘small head’ the feature of this indicates he understood what the instructions were. Pauses were common, as I was concentrating on the instructions I was going to tell him.

'Pure elegance' - Dublin

Dublin is a lively place. A city with spirit and pure gold. A city filled with history, leading back hundreds of years combined with many monuments to see, Dublin is the place to be. It could be the fact that Dublin is deemed as a 'young city',  However I believe that the City is appealing to broader ages, depending on your location. A city filled with golden hearted people, preparing to share and engage you within their honourable and proud Irish tradition. Temple bar is the most exhilerating and entertaining night out in Dublin, pure elegance. A short stroll away, or even the tram if you're feeling hungover is the world famous Guinness factory. Situated in St James' gate, the brewery is the spiritual home of the most famous stout beer in the world - Guinness.

Unreliable Character

My style model is an interview between ABC news and Barack Obama.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/text-obamas-exclusive-interview-ap-20480967

Question: Mr. President, thank you so much for sitting down with us today.

Obama: Yeah sweet mate.

Q: There is a lot that I want to ask you about the government shutdown and foreign policy, but I wanted to start with health care. The signature element of your health care law went online this week, and the interest seems to have really exceeded expectations, but there were some serious glitches with the online systems. And our reporting shows that the number of people who actually managed to sign up for insurance in the states using the federal system was in the single digits. How many people have actually signed up for insurance this week?

Obama: Well you know I um like don't know the right figures yet, I will 'av to get back to you on that one yeah mate. But the thing is I reckon it did well good than I first thought, people really need healthcare so it'll be alright. And ye the website got a bit too busy but it happens, but my mates are working all the time to sort this out, and I reckon it'll be sound.

Q: Do you have a message for those Americans who tried to sign up this week and gave up in frustration?
 [Barack Obama sighs]

Obama: Ye I do. The should not give up, bit of patience and it will be cool. They've got bags of time, more than i can imagine. They'll be alright as it isn't in charge till January, so they shouldn't be bothered ye. It will be sound cuz I just think it will be. The americans will be cool with it I reckon.

Q: Thanks for that Mr. President, much appreciated.

Obama: Alright mate, see you in a bit.

Technology - An evergrowing economic field

Technology is rapidly growing, from Apple iPhone's to nuclear bomb, the 21st century is majorly ran via technology. Is it overpowering? Can we handle all this technology?

The MUST  have:The iPhone, the phone which is at the centre of world dominance.

Apple, Blackberry, Nokia, Sony and HTC are all leading mobile phone brands which are continuously being introduced to our generation and will be ever growing. I have been forutante enough to own an Apple iPhone, which in my opinion is the 'Big Daddy' of the mobile phone market. The design of the phone is spectacular as it's very snazzy, but also very bland which also makes the phone so attractive.

What happened to the days of chalk boards at school? Those were the days where people relied on one another rather than technology to succeed. Eventually schools will introduce iPad's and tablets to run their lessons instead of basic straight forward pens and paper. This will demolish all social aspects of school, it will just promote groups of youngsters roaming around with iPads and tablets at school instead of playing schooltime games, like any normal child.

Technology is a MUST in our current society. It is  deemed as a neccisty, which in some cases is true. However in places such as school, children are brainwashed due to their lessons being run on electrilcal items.

With our current economic situation, you would like to believe that people weren't so narrow minded and spending most of their money on technology, but they are. In my household we have a television which I believe leads to a deprevision of the social aspects of a family life. On the other hand, my wife doesn't agree. She believes that the tele is the be all and end all of a house. She's wrong. My grandfather used to interact with his parents and his brother and sisters, playing games, working their brains. Children in our current society rely on technology to entertain themselves, instead of the free entertainment. This is wrong. Children in India and most other poverty stricken countries have much higher IQ's than those of Britain. I bet you are asking yourself why? Maybe because of their lack of technology, but their excess of enthusiasm and basic life skills.
